Ducks Unlimited Canada: Conserving Canada’s Wetlands
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of wetlands and associated habitat for the benefit of North America’s waterfowl, wildlife and people.

In order to counter continued habitat loss and degradation in settled areas throughout Canada, DUC’s efforts focus on conservation, research and education. In Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) alone DUC has secured over 8,000 acres of habitat by working with volunteers, landowners, government, and the general public. Recently in New Brunswick, DUC has, for the first time, undertaken a salt marsh restoration project designed to compare two different restoration techniques used on the same site.

Additionally DUC’s education program, Project Webfoot, which started in Atlantic Canada, has grown into an award-winning international wetland education program. In NL Project Webfoot is currently expanding to offer more hands-on opportunities for students to discover the importance of wetlands.
