10th Annual Seniors’ Day at MUN Botanical Garden

June is Seniors’ Month across Canada and MUN Botanical Garden is celebrating!  Seniors are invited to visit MUN Botanical Garden on Thursday, June 16, 2011 and participate in our 10th Annual Seniors’ Day at the Garden.  The Friends of the Garden (FOG), in conjunction with the Botanical Garden, host this event every year.

Since its launch in 2001, Seniors’ Day has evolved into a very popular, well-attended and well-received event.  The Friends of MUN Botanical Garden and the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, Avalon Chapter have supported Seniors’ Day since its inception.  This year, the Wellness Coalition, Avalon East is also a supporter of this event.

Garden volunteers and staff are offering a variety of activities for seniors to enjoy including free admission to the Botanical Garden that day, complimentary refreshments, garden tours, nature hikes, “Ask the Gardener” sessions, and some free transportation.  Cook’s Bus & Charter will be providing a schedule of pick-up points throughout the city for that day.  Ron and Rosie Cook have been assisting with Seniors Day since its inception in 2001.
