Does Canada Need A Marine Species At Risk Act?  Canada’s primary conservation law for species at risk of extinction is the Species at Risk Act. The conservation community is well aware that marine fish are rarely listed – and as a result, severely depleted fish stocks aren’t getting the protection they need for recovery. But is SARA the right tool for the job, or do we need something designed specifically for the needs of marine fish?

ACAP Humber Arm invites you to join our next Coastal Matters presentation where Dr. Brett Favaro of the Marine Institute, Memorial University of Newfoundland will share his thoughts on these questions, followed by a q&a with the audience.  This talk will take place 12:30 to 1:20pm, Wednesday, February 3rd in room 2016 of the Arts and Science Building, Grenfell Campus.
