Sunday Nature Programs at MUN Botanical Garden

Drop by the Botanical Garden every Sunday for nature programs.  Activities may include: bird watching, nature hikes, ‘meet the critters’, duck feeding, story time and more.

Fee: General admission.  Registration is not required.  FREE for members of the Friends of the Garden, MUN students and children 5 years old and younger.

The Western Environment Centre is proud to announce the launch of their new E-BikeShare Pilot Project. From now until the end of November (weather permitting), members of the public can rent an electric bicycle for just $10 a day to get around the hilly landscape of Corner Brook without breaking a sweat! Look for the bikes at the Residence Complex on the Grenfell campus of Memorial University or in front of Cycle Solutions at 35 West Street. Employment Opportunity: Echo Pond Summer Camp/Environmental Education Commission

 

Echo Pond Summer Camp/Environmental Education Commission is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible Camp Counsellor / Lifeguard for the 2015 summer season, for 7 weeks, from July 6th-August 21st, available for training from June 25th-27th.  This is through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Therefore student must be:

  • Registered as a full-time student for the preceding and next academic year
    • Between the ages of 15-30 at the start of employment
    • Must be Canadian Citizen and legally entitled to work in Canada.

 

Echo Pond is an overnight summer camp, taking place about 1 hour 15 minutes from St. John’s. Having access to a vehicle would be ideal for this position, however there is a possibility of carpooling.

 

The ideal candidate:

 

–       Has valid Lifeguard certification

–       Has up-to-date First Aid and CPR certification

–       Enjoys working with kids

–       Has an interest and knowledge in ecology, sustainability and the environment (university or college courses in a related field would be an asset)

–       Is reasonably fit and enjoys spending time outdoors (experience and training in canoeing, outdoor skills, and gardening would all be assets)

–       Works well in a team environment

–       Is adaptable, motivated and caring

 

 

Pay is $13/hour, 35 hours/week with some flexibility.

The We Are Cities: Community Innovation Grant supports projects addressing issues critical to the success of our communities including, but not limited to, mobility, the built and natural environment, citizen engagement, multi-sectorial collaboration, policy design, waste management and energy.

Outdoor Education Assistant Position

NLESD Western Region is hiring an outdoor education assistant (term position) to help with the spring delivery of our Residential Outdoor Education Program at Killdevil Camp in Gros Morne National Park.  There are more details in the attached job ad. Please distribute to your contacts.
