East Coast Trail “Tely Hike” and Team Fundraising Campaign

We need a little help to take care of the Trail.

The East Coast Trail “Tely Hike”, our annual fundraising event, is scheduled to take place at Torbay on June 4th.  Our objective this year is to raise $100,000. The money raised will be invested directly into Trail infrastructure through our trail maintenance, restoration and development program.

For example, the 220 km of Trail between Fort Amherst and Cappahayden has been in-service for 15 years. It has received significant hiker traffic and been impacted by many storms.  The trail damage inflicted by Hurricane Igor combined with an aging infrastructure has presented the Association with many unexpected challenges. And the task ahead is a major challenge for a charitable, volunteer based organization like ours.

We need your help to raise money for the Trail. On May 4th we will begin the Team Fundraising Campaign. Please checkout the “2011 Tely Hike” page on our website eastcoasttrail.com to obtain all the information and forms your need to support your team and/or individual fund raising efforts.

The success of this campaign is dependent on our members active participation and support.  If you love the Trail, get involved and form a team, the maximum team size is ten.  Invite your family, relatives, friends, neighbors, fellow hikers, and co-workers to join with you. Set a fundraising target and get out there and have fun doing it.  Sell your community and company on the need to support the Trail by showing them your passion and love for this great community resource called the East Coast Trail.

Your fund raising contribution will make you eligible for the following prizes:

1.     Top Fundraising Team: Enjoy a morning kayaking in Cape Broyle with Stan Cook and a dining experience at Chafe’s Landing in Petty Harbour for a group of ten.

2.     Top Fundraising Individual: win hiking boots, shirt and backpack from the Outfitters.

We hope to see you and your team on June 4th for a great hike, food and music, and to celebrate the Tely Hike and the Official Opening of the Trail between Middle Cove and Flatrock  . . . all happening on International Trails Day.

We need your support. Please take the time to fit this request into your schedule and help us to make the 11th East Coast Trail “Tely Hike” a fundraising success.
