ACAP Humber Arm – Public Talk

What is the Future of the Seafood Industry in Newfoundland and Labrador?  The seafood industry continues to be an important economic driver of Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy at a time when other key sectors in the province are struggling.  Looking to the future a tremendous opportunity exists to assist the industry in developing a more efficient and market oriented value chain to aggressively pursue new opportunities.  This session will profile key trends in the seafood sector, identify global factors affecting it and will outline the role of research, technology and innovation in advancing the seafood value chain in the province.

ACAP Humber Arm invites you to join our next Coastal Matters presentation where Mr. Carey Bonnell, Head of School of Fisheries, Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland will share his thoughts on these questions, followed by a Q&A with the audience.  This talk will take place 12:30 to 1:20pm, Thursday, February 18th in room 3019 of the Forest Centre, Grenfell Campus.

ACAP Humber Arm Coastal Matters Presentation

Does Canada Need A Marine Species At Risk Act?  Canada’s primary conservation law for species at risk of extinction is the Species at Risk Act. The conservation community is well aware that marine fish are rarely listed – and as a result, severely depleted fish stocks aren’t getting the protection they need for recovery. But is SARA the right tool for the job, or do we need something designed specifically for the needs of marine fish?

ACAP Humber Arm invites you to join our next Coastal Matters presentation where Dr. Brett Favaro of the Marine Institute, Memorial University of Newfoundland will share his thoughts on these questions, followed by a q&a with the audience.  This talk will take place 12:30 to 1:20pm, Wednesday, February 3rd in room 2016 of the Arts and Science Building, Grenfell Campus.

As with all Coastal Matters presentations this session is free of charge and open to the public; rsvp’s not required.  Tea and coffee will be available; feel free to bring your own bagged lunch.  Please help us promote this session by forwarding this email to your contacts and/or displaying the attached poster at your workplace.
